SETI

On Wednesday, April 27, it became world-known that because of  lack of funding the work of radio telescopes in Allen stopped. They were looking for outer noise signals produced by extra terrestrial civilizations. This project was the practical realization of a dream about man searching for intelligence throughout the universe.
Participants of the SETI project were analyzing signals coming from space by the radio - the idea that analysis of such signals will discover extra terrestrial civilizations appeared in the XIX century.
SETI attracted wide spread attention with the discovery of so-called "wow-signal" - the picture of the printed data is under the post. The origin of the mysterious signal remains still unclear.

Strange galaxy

Astronomers took pictures of the galaxy NGC 2442 in high definition. Pictures and a brief description are available at the European Southern Observatory (ESO). 
Star Cluster  of unusual S-shape - like a flying fish - is located in the southern hemisphere of the sky. Strange shape of the galaxy is the result of its collision with another star clusters, which happened in the past. This event launched the active processes of star formation in some parts of the galaxy.
Recently, another team of astronomers has received pictures of two galaxies that are on the verge of collision. Star clustershave 50,000 light-years between, but they have already begun to provide each other the gravitational influence.

Poet coded his poems into the genome of the bacteria

Poet, who specifically studied molecular biology and programming, coded his own poems in the genome of the bacteria Escherichia coli.


The genomes of all living things are composed of DNA - a special polymer consisted of four types of monomers (referred to by the letters A, T, G and C - chemically they are the nucleotides). They are basic building blocks that make up proteins. Author of a new work devised his own "genetic code", where some three nucleotides encode letters of the alphabet. 


To create a "genetic code" of the poetry took four years for the scientist. He made sure that the sequence of amino acids in the proteins synthesized with the sequence of the first row, you can turn to the second line, using a different code, where certain combinations of amino acids coded letters of the alphabet.


This is not the first time when researchers code by DNA  words or phrases. Earlier, Craig Venter - the odious scientists involved in the project "Human Genome", he created the first organism with an artificial genome. He "wrote" into the genome his name and the names of his colleagues.

First try

Telescope "Kepler" has found planets the same size as Earth, and also the system consisting of a star and six planets. On these planets can be water sources -  necessary elements for Life, so these planets are the most perspective candidates to search for other creatures. One more interesting thing - the telescope found a star similar to the Sun, surrounded by six planets. It is the greatest known planetary system (after Solar system).
Maybe we are close to find another Life? Some people think that it is impossible to believe in other inhabitable zones in space - but why not?
